Typical installation times are 1-3 days for a solar PV system
The actual installation of an average sized solar PV system is about 1-3 days. It can take 4-8 weeks however to be ready to install. What goes into this time? (1) We plan the technical aspects of your installation and concurrently apply for permission from your grid operator to connect your system to the grid once complete. (2) Depending on the size of your installation if it is smaller than 3.6 kWp connection approval will come after installation; if it is greater than this size we will need to await approval from your grid network operator for permission to connect before any work can be done. These approvals take anywhere from 24 hours to 45 working days or beyond, depending on which grid network operator you are on. Consult us and we can give you our current average times for your specific DNO. In our experience the average has been one month. (3) Once we receive approval or determine pre-approval is not required we work with our local network of installers to arrange an installation date that works for you with you. (4) Scaffolding will be erected about a week before the planned installation date. (5) The actual installation of panels and electrical equipment takes 1-3 days and scaffolding remains on your property for up to two weeks after your project is complete as we continue monitoring performance to ensure system output. (6) You are invoiced once your installation has been delivered to you and once payment is received all final paperwork is generated. You may need to wait for final confirmation from your grid network provider for G98 acceptance if your system only required notification post installation. Most DNOs are quite fast but a few take some weeks to confirm. You can apply for a Smart Export Guarantee at this point to be paid for the excess electricity you generate and sell back to the grid.
