Some permits pre and post-installations are necessary to install solar panels.
To carry out a photovoltaic installation it is mandatory that the homeowner requests certain permits. Permits required for solar panel installations fall into 2 broad categories, pre-installation permits and post-installation paperwork:
Permits prior to the installation of solar panels:
- AIl installation system design access and connection permission (Otovo does this)
- Building regulations (Otovo does this with installer)
- Planning permission (only if your property is located in a conservation area, or if your property has listed status from relevant authorities - please check with your local council).
Paperwork and procedures after the installation of solar panels:
- Completion certificate (this is submitted and obtained by the installer/Otovo).
- Initial inspection and periodic inspections (up to customer to maintain after the Otovo warranty ends after 5 years).
- MCS certificate (Otovo will obtain this for the customer).
- Export and utilizing certain subsidies like Smart Export Guarantee (Otovo will support the customer through the process, but, ultimately, it falls down on the customer to go through the process and sign the agreement with the electricity provider he chooses).
- G98/99 certificate.
